NDTMS monthly report summary - February 2024

  • In November 2023 there were 194,030 adult (18+) drug users who had been in 'effective' treatment over the previous year. This is an increase of 7,174 compared to the same month last year.
  • In February 2024 there were 144,088 adult (18+) clients that had started treatment within the current year. This is an increase of 23,102 compared to the same month last year.
  • In November 2023 there were 11,955 young person (<18) drug users who had been in 'effective' treatment over the previous year. This is an increase of 1,864 compared to the same month last year.
  • In February 2024 there were 9,090 young person (<18) clients that had started treatment within the current year. This is an increase of 1,475 compared to the same month last year.
  • The proportion of adult (18+) clients treated for opiate use who were 18 or over and recorded a successful completion of treatment in the 12 months ending August 2023 and did not represent within 6 months was 5.11%. This compares to 5.02% in the same period in the previous year.
  • The proportion of adult (18+) clients treated for non-opiate use who were 18 or over and recorded a successful completion of treatment in the 12 months ending August 2023 and did not represent within 6 months was 29.97%. This compares to 32.26% in the same period in the previous year.
  • The proportion of adult (18+) clients treated for alcohol use who were 18 or over and recorded a successful completion of treatment in the 12 months ending August 2023 and did not represent within 6 months was 35.65%. This compares to 35.65% in the same period in the previous year.
  • The continuity of care rate between prison treatment and community treatment was 52% in the quarter to January 2024. The rate was 51.8% in the quarter to December 2023.
